Platonic Heart Aya Isheshima 1/7 PVC Figure Review
01.05.2009 by Adrian A. Lozano
Zettai Shougeki's story centers around a young school girl named Aya Isheshima who ends up getting sucked into the Platonic Heart battle tournament oh her way home from school. Aya is no stranger to kicking ass and taking names, she seems to be a Street Fighter powerhouse using upper cuts, knees, and back breakers. The female fighters in this anime can hit so hard that they can shatter clothing as if it's fragile glass exposing each of the fighters assets.
Packaging & Contents:
Yamato Toys released the main heroine of this OVA in their EXTRA Story Image Figure line at the very end of 2008, and they did a really nice job on the box's graphic design which reflects the theme of the official website and features character artwork by the show's original character designer Happōbi Jin. I was pleasantly surprised to find a mini poster of Aya when I pulled the insert tray out of the box. The poster is hidden just out of view of the figure display packaging window, a really nice bonus that usually only comes with event or online exclusive figures. Additional items found inside is a display base, hand bag, interchangeable torso and skirt.
Sculpt:
Aya is sculpted by zenko (硫黄泉) and is based off the box and poster illustration. The figure's face and body are very well sculpted and feature lots of fine details. Aya's body seems to be a little bit thicker than how she appears in 2D which is good because it gives her more of a powerful presence like Chung Li from Street Fighter 2. This thicker version of Aya translates better as a figure, besides there are already plenty of skinny large breasted school girl figures out in the market. The face, body and clothing sculpts are very good representations of the illustration but the Aya's hair has none of the find detail seen in the box it actually seems to resembles Aya's hair from the anime. This was the part of the figure I found disappointing her long hair is just too thick and rounded on the ends and gets in the way of a really nice head sculpt.
Extras:
In this day and age of PVC figure there needs to be a gimmick, like either removable clothing, or soft flesh like plastic breasts. This figure is no exception to the rule and keeping up with the times owners can display Aya in her shattered glass school girl outfit revealing her bare...... just look at the pictures. Now I've seen some pretty bad PVC breast in the last four years that I've lived in Tokyo, but I honestly have to say Aya has a nice rack for a figure. She can be displayed with out any kind of anchor or support rod yet she comes with a plastic mirror like display base for you up skirt figure collectors out there. Yamato has also done a fine paint job on the figure and also added a few additional details like painted finger nails and a breast pocked school crest logo on Aya's sweater. So if you are not a fan or bare breasts in your anime and figures you may want to skip the following link. Click her for a look at Aya's bare battle damaged chest.
The Verdict:
Personally for me I'm not a fan of the show so the figure doesn't really get my attention. I really have an issue with the hair strands but if you are a fan of the anime then your going to need this figure. According to the official website it is the only figure released as of now, but Yamato has a 1/1 scale figures coming out.
